Clean Energy Transition Institute's Net-Zero Northwest Workforce analysis offers regional policymakers direction for how employment would shift over time as the region moves toward attaining a net-zero emissions goal by 2050. While fossil fuel-related jobs would decline, on balance net energy jobs in the Northwest would grow by 17% between 2021 and 2030. The question for the region’s stakeholders is how to manage the transition to clean energy in such a way that as many people as possible benefit, either by having access to jobs that were previously foreclosed or by receiving training that would enable them to learn new skills and maintain a good standard of living. On 1 April 2022 Arup stopped taking on commissions that involved the extraction, refinement or transport of fossil fuels. Since then our energy business has flourished focussing on contributing to the global goal of tripling renewable energy by 2030, and using our knowledge and expertise to repurpose coal-fired power stations.#wearearup #sustainablefuture
