Guys, I love fresh mint and I hope you do to! Because it’s just so perfect in this mint lemonade!

It is the best herb to put in various summer drinks from co*cktails Spanish Calimocho to Infused Waters (Pineapple Infused Water) or iced teas (Mint and Lemon Iced Tea).

Oh and let’s not forget about frozen treats like Raspberry Mint Ice Pops!

But let’s talk more about this mint lemonade recipe.

How to make mint lemonade

Get a large jug/pitcher and pour in water. Add freshly squeezed lemon juice and sugar. Stir with a spoon until the sugar has dissolved.

Now, it’s important you taste it at this stage to see if it has the right taste for you. Some lemons can contain more juice some less, some can be stronger in taster others less. So don’t forget to give the lemonade a taste.

Only then add some extra lemon slices and fresh mint sprigs. Chill in the fridge for two hours before serving so the mint has time to infuse the water as well.

If you want to serve your mint lemonade with ice, I suggest making it stronger (adding more lemon) as the ice will melt and dilute the lemonade.

What do you need to make lemonade?

Necessary – a jug/jar/pitcher/glass that is large enough for the amount of mint lemonade you want to make. Then anything you can stir with – a spoon or a spatula – just to dissolve the sugar. And because in this case it is mint lemonade you will need some lemons and fresh mint.

Optional – lemon slices (for the extra lemon-y flavor and decoration) + ice.

Useful tips for making mint lemonade

  • The longer you chill it, the stronger the mint flavor as well as lemon flavor (from the lemon slices)
  • I always use juice from fresh lemons as it is as fresh as it can get
  • Now if you finish all the lemonade, and have mint and lemon slices left in the jug, just refill it with water and put it back to fridge for several hours. This way you will end up with infused water like Lemon Lime Cucumber Water. Isn’t it great? Just make sure to change the mint when you see some leaves turning black.

Instructions

  • Pour water in a large jar/jug/pitcher. Add sugar and freshly squeezed juice from 2 lemons. Stir until the sugar has dissolved. Now add the mint sprigs and lemon slices (from 1 lemon).

  • Cover the jar/jug/pitcher with a lid or plastic wrap and place in the fridge for at least 2 hours.

Notes

  1. Water – use filtered or bottled water. If you have a good quality tap water, then feel free to use it. Sparkling water works also well.
  2. Lemon – each lemon contains a different amount of juice so I recommend tasting the lemonade first. If it’s too sour to your liking, add more sugar. If not, add more lemon.
  3. The longer you keep the lemonade in the fridge the stronger the flavors.
  4. Make sure to wash the lemons thoroughly to remove any wax or any other dirt.
  5. After you finished all the lemonade, you don’t have to throw the sliced lemons and fresh mint away! Top it up with water, let infuse in the fridge for several hours and you will be ready to enjoy homemade mint lemon infused water!
