Big thanks to TreesCharlotte for spending time with Duke Energy Corporation #employees and distributing 300+ saplings to strengthen #Charlotte’s #tree canopy. These Tree Masters shared tips for planting and tree health. It was an excellent way for employees to learn more about this valuable #grantee partner. We appreciate Kodwo Ghartey-Tagoe’s dedicated board service and advocacy for all of the community advantages of flourishing trees. Dominique Johnson Susan Francis Jane Myers #WeAreDE

Today, we celebrate National #Lineworker Appreciation Day -- a day we recognize the men and women who keep the lights on for our customers, 24/7, 365 days per year. These first responders and community ambassadors are the backbone of the energy transition and infrastructure buildout happening across our region to help us reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. This means lineworkers are in demand more than ever before. With the size and scale of the energy transition, Duke Energy is building pipelines of local talent for North Carolina’s growing energy industry. With financial support from the Duke Energy Foundation, Central Piedmont Community College launched a 16-week lineworker training program designed to offer hands-on training. The training program enables as many as 144 graduates every 12 months, who go on to work meaningful jobs for regional cooperatives, Duke Energy Corporation and other utilities. To our Duke Energy lineworkers, I offer a heartfelt thank you for your service. And to anyone interested in the rewarding and enriching lineworker career field, I encourage you to reach out to Central Piedmont for more information about the utility line worker training program.Pictured here: the first graduates of the Central Piedmont program showing off their skills!#Thankalineworker #Thankalineman #WeAreDE #Philanthropy

We celebrated Clean the Queen week with Envision Charlotte at the Innovation Barn. Duke Energy Corporation #volunteers participated in so many cool projects from glass recycling (looking at you Lisa Rhyne and Jonathan Miller!), to meal prep and sound panel weaving. There are so many nifty ways to explore, and participate in, #Charlotte’s sustainable, circular economy at the Innovation Barn. Big thanks to Amy Aussieker and her team for a great experience. If you want to know more, visit the Innovation Barn this Saturday afternoon for tours and celebrations! #sustainability #WeAreDE

Join me at SHARE Charlotte’s SHARE-a-Latte event this Thursday at the Carolina Raptor Center. This no-cost event is a great way for #nonprofits to #network, and I look forward to speaking and meeting attendees.

A great gig on our #sustainabilty team with Heather Quinley! This role is also within the same larger department as the Foundation and has excellent direct colleagues.

Cool #jobs working on public policy for our clean #energy future! Sarah Adair’s team would be a great one to join, and we’d be in the same department. #WeAreDE
