We’re pouring mud mats for sewer line foundation piers and slush grouting the spill way berm at Lake Lure. The scale of this site is nothing short of breathtaking.

Great photos. Impressive old concrete works up close. Would love to see this one in person. Maybe I can come up there and sample some of Steve Barnes' fine product next time there is a placement...

Getting out of the ground at FS01 and working on getting the footprint in site wide. One of the main challenges in getting out of the ground on this particular site is the multiple small valleys which take shape of the natural ground when the topsoil is stripped seeing it is naturally a greenfields site. The valleys become a priority to fill as soon as possible to avoid any water ponding in any rain events which may compromise the suitability of the foundation. 627K Scraper - Topsoil Stripping ✅825k Compactor + 12M Grader + 740 Moxy Watercart - Place & Compact Fill ✅

Slow and steady! We can trench in about 1,800ft of sock per day depending on soil conditions. Notice the giant hopper on the back of the trencher? That allows us to put sand around the sock pipe when contractors encounter clay layers on site. #dewatering #sockdrain #EastCoastDewatering #constructionequipment

During the initial inspection on water damaged buildings it is important to have good lighting. At first look this skirting board and walling appears to be in a good condition. However, with the use of directional lighting we were able to identify visible microbial growth behind the skirting boards allowing us to put the appropriate controls in place until the required works can commence. #restoration #waterdamage #water #mould

Sand filters, otherwise known as Sand Filter Basins, or SFs, collect runoff during storm events and gradually infiltrate stormwater into the underlying sand bed with an underdrain system. During a storm, runoff accumulates at the top of the basin before gradually infiltrating within the sand bed, filling the void spaces of sand. The underdrain system (a detail of which is shown in Photo 2) drains the sand bed and discharges runoff to a nearby channel, swale, or storm drain. Sand filters are similar to bioretention facilities except that they are not specifically designed for vegetation growth. The absence of vegetation, however, allows for easier maintenance at the surface of the filter to remove accumulated sediment. Sand filter basins are often used for sites with impervious tributary areas such as pavement, concrete, rock mulch, rooftops, or irrigated sod. #sandfilter #sandfilterbasin #waterquality #postconstruction #controlmeasures

Drainage layer in a vertical-flow constructed wetland (VFCW):A gravel layer in the bottom of the constructed wetland separates the drainage piping from the sand layer. Sand is the principal filter media and must be prevented from washing out by water flow. Good particle size gradient between sand and gravel is fundamental to assure long-term efficiency of the system.#wastewater #watertreatment #constructedwetlands #treatmentwetland #wetlands #fitotratamiento #humedalesconstruidos #humedalesartificiales #naturebasedsolutions #environmentalengineering

Hillslope gullies can be managed with a combination of low-cost runoff and erosion stabilisation structures and grazing management.Because hillslope gullies are more likely to have a high catchment to gully ratio, to be able to implement low-cost prevention and mitigation measures is important for landholders. Scottville grazier Carl Grooco*ck is all smiles about stopping an actively eroding gully, regaining land as well as improving surface water management and infiltration rates across the paddock. This story shows how he halted the progress of a linear hillslope gully, about 15m wide and 0.8m deep, consisting of a series of actively eroding gullies. This work was completed through the Landholders Driving Change project and is being monitored through The Burdekin Major Integrated Project Gully Maintenance and Monitoring project.https://lnkd.in/gNedjqwxDepartment of Environment, Science and Innovation
